Uniforms and Equipment:
Every referee is expected to come to the field prepared for work. You should be wearing the jersey provided by the league along with the proper footwear. Your jersey should not be covered by a coat or sweatshirt. In cold weather you should layer clothing under your jersey so that it will remain visible. You should also have on hand:
-
Whistle
-
Red/Yellow Cards
-
Stopwatch
-
Copy of the rules
-
Pad and Pencil (used to record the names of any players, coaches or spectators issued a red card)
Cancellations Due to Weather:
If a game is canceled due to inclement weather the referee coordinator will notify you as soon as possible. You can also check the league web site for game cancellations. If you are not sure if a game has been canceled, go to the field. The league tries to run games regardless of the weather, unless there is a safety concern.
Red Cards:
It is expected that OMM referees be polite and respectful while performing their duties in a professional manner. If a concern arises with a player, coach or spectator a verbal warning should be given, if possible, prior to issuing a yellow and/or red card. If a red card is given you are required to get the name of the recipient and inform the referee coordinator of the situation following the game.
Uniform Return and Payment:
Uniforms are returned in December. You will be notified of the date and time. When you hand in your jersey you will receive payment for the games you covered. Salary is determined by your years of experience and the division to which you are assigned. All games are assigned two (2) referees, if at anytime you ref alone notify the referee coordinator after the game.
IMPORTANT REMINDERS:
- You are required to arrive at your games 15 minutes early.
-
You must arrive prepared. Each referee should have their designated equipment.
- If you switch games with another referee you must inform the referee coordinator of the change.
